My rates vary depending on the length and complexity of your manuscript, as well as the level of editing you require. I am often able to offer discounts to graduate students and early-career academics; I've been in your shoes, and I know that funding can be tight! Indexing
My rates are competitive with industry standards, which average $3–7 CAD per 300 indexable* words (roughly 1 page) for a traditional back-of-the-book index. Your fee will include up to two hours of additional editing after submission; after these two hours, I charge an hourly rate.
Paying for a trained, skilled indexer is always a good investment. As your indexer, I will read every word of your manuscript with a meticulous eye, thinking about your target readers and how they will approach your book. A thorough index doesn’t just list names and places; it analyses the text and understands what your book is about, offering your reader many access points to the manuscript.
